Team workflow & roles

Work prepared by one person, signed off by another.

Practitioners, managers and admins each hold the access their seat needs. Finished work goes to a review queue, and nobody can approve what they submitted themselves.

Illustrative engagements and names.

The seats

Three seats, nested inside one firm.

Each seat can do everything the one before it can, and more. Practitioners open their own engagements; managers also assign and approve; admins also run the firm’s staff.

Maker and checker

Nobody approves their own work.

A practitioner submits a finished engagement for review. A manager or admin approves it, which locks it, or sends it back. The API refuses an approval from the person who submitted the work, whatever their seat.

  • Sending work back needs a written note.
  • Who submitted, who decided and when stay on the engagement.

Routing

Submitted work finds a reviewer by itself.

On submit, the engagement goes to the manager or admin with the fewest open reviews, never to its author, and they are notified. Whoever holds it can reassign it or release it back to the queue.

  • If you are the firm’s only manager, the queue flags your own submissions, since nobody else can approve them.

Sign-in

One account, opened in the right firm.

Each firm signs in at its own address, so the login already knows which firm is meant. Someone who works with more than one firm picks it after signing in, and holds one seat in each.

Questions

Before you ask.

Can a practitioner start work without a manager?
Yes. Practitioners open their own engagements and studies. They cannot assign work to someone else or approve it.
What if our firm has only one manager?
An admin can approve too. If the only person who could approve is the one who submitted, the queue says so, and an admin can invite another manager.
Can one person work with two firms?
Yes. They sign in once and choose the firm, holding one seat in each. Nothing from one firm is visible in the other.
What does our client see?
Only their own engagement: they upload documents, fill in the questionnaire and confirm their figures. Client intake covers it in full.
