Defending a transfer pricing audit with the file you already filed
The first week of a TP audit is a document request. If the search trail and PLI worksheet cannot be replayed, the characterisation debate never starts on even terms.

A transfer pricing audit does not begin with a theory of the case. It begins with a list: produce the Local File, the Master File, the search strategy, the accept/reject matrix, the tested-party financials, and the working papers behind the range. The quality of week one determines whether week six is a characterisation debate or a reconstruction project.
TP audit and litigation support in this product is the ability to replay the study. Advocacy remains a human engagement. This article is about the packet.
Contemporaneous means contemporaneous
Most forums treat a study prepared after the assessment order as a different, weaker animal. If the search was run, the FAR written, and the range computed when the return was filed, you are defending a file. If those artefacts were assembled after the notice, you are explaining a reconstruction. Software cannot backdate honesty. It can make the honest file cheap enough to exist on time. That is the entire busy-season argument for automation.
Working papers officers actually use
FAR comparable scores (0–100, four criteria, written rationales, live web search) let a reviewer attack a weight instead of alleging that comparability was "subjective." The accept/reject matrix rebuilt from the database export is the screening trail. Instant PLI blocking validation (operating profit must equal operating revenue minus operating cost) is the first question a quantitative officer will re-perform. If your PLI workbook does not reconcile, nothing else in the economic chapter matters yet.
AI-authored paragraphs are disclosed as drafts your specialists edited. We do not pretend a model is a signing partner. We also do not let it write the quartile. Digit-integrity checks on translated Local Files exist because a number that changes in Arabic is an exhibit, not a typo.
What SBC will and will not claim
Steadfast Business Consulting handles audits, MAP, APAs, and litigation as advisory work. We will not publish fake win rates, unnamed "global corporations," or guaranteed outcomes. TaxTech500 reviews already on the paid landing page are the only named review quotes we repeat, verbatim. Everything else is illustrative.
The platform will not file a submission, predict an assessment, or invent comparables that failed the screens. Those constraints are how you keep a hearing bundle from becoming the other side's first exhibit.
When the notice arrives
Export the report, annexures, and PLI workbook. Walk the officer through the search steps in recorded order. Then argue characterisation, method, and comparability with counsel. Read the Local File as defense and benchmarking and TP advisory for the economic half. To see a reconstructable study, book a specialist walkthrough.
Archive at filing, not at notice
When the return goes in, store the export, the PLI workbook, the database extract, and the collaborator log. Eighteen months later you will not remember which intern owned the set. MAP and APA files should reuse that packet. They should not reuse a reconstructed spreadsheet that no longer matches the Local File you filed.
Contemporaneous is a timestamp. Automation's only honest contribution is to make the on-time file inexpensive enough that the timestamp is real. That is TP audit support as operations, before it is advocacy.
